Title of the paper: About Romanticism and childhood in Wordsworth’s poems

Student´s name: Salvador Soriano, Paula

Author or topic: William Wordsworth

Abstract:

In Wordsworth’s poetry, childhood is a magical, magnificent time of innocence. Children form an intense bond with nature, so much so that they appear to be a part of the natural world, rather than a part of the human, social world.

Many of Wordsworth’s poems (including masterpieces such as “Tintern Abbey” and the “Intimations of Immortality” ode) deal with the subjects of childhood and the memory of childhood in the mind of the adult in particular, childhood’s lost connection with nature, which can be preserved only in memory.

In this Paper we present some information about romantic art during this period and also there are some videos that will help the reader to better understand the history and the style of this new period.

Wordsworth’s poems initiated the Romantic era by emphasizing feeling, instinct, and pleasure above formality and mannerism. As an introduction, the Paper gives a general idea of the romantic style in literature; then, a view of  William Wordsworth’s world and work is showed, and one of  his most famous poems “Tintern Abbey” is analysed. Finally, this Paper concludes talking about some of the best Romantic authors.
