My first paper on English Poetry tries to give a general overview of the William Wordsworth’s world. Specifically, I am going to study the topic of childhood in William’s works but also the society and the epoch which influenced him and his poems. This author is one of the most important romatinc ones so I find interesting to have a little knowledge about this period because it will help us when reading and understanding William’s poems. So, I will try to explain the new cultural and literary aspects of the Romanticism trough William Wordsworth who was one of the beginners of this new period.
More specifically, we will study the poem ‘Tintern Abbey’, which is one of his most important ones and at the same time it is a poem that shows both topics I would like to talk about in this Paper, the childhood and the Romanticism style.
